PAS’s Hadi Awang is reportedly eyeing a split from Bersatu — and it perfectly exposes the rotting farce of “Malay Unity.”

These people never tire of preaching about perpaduan Melayu and perpaduan Ummah. They lecture the rakyat endlessly about unity, sacrifice, and defending the race and religion. Yet the moment positions and power are on the table, the same leaders turn into wolves tearing at each other’s throats. How do you expect the people at the bottom to unite when the leaders at the top are busy stabbing one another in the back?

They keep launching new banners like desperate fashion brands: Payung Melayu, Muafakat Nasional, Perpaduan Ummah, Rumah Bangsa — and soon perhaps “Reset Melayu” when PAS finally dumps Bersatu and PN. Every single one of these grand coalitions has one thing in common: No DAP.

And yet, even without DAP, they still cannot stop fighting each other to death.

They claim they want to fight DAP. But come election time, they become chickens. Instead of uniting against their declared enemy, they compete against each other — seat by seat, state by state. They change political partners faster than they change clothes. They backstab yesterday’s ally and embrace today’s “strategic partner.” When none of them can secure enough seats to form government, they still end up crawling back to work with DAP anyway.

Right now, while they are in opposition with zero real power, they are already this messy, this petty, this bloodthirsty. Imagine how much worse it will be when they actually taste power again. The betrayal and infighting will be even more brutal.

What exactly are they fighting for?

Look at their so-called leaders:

  • Mahathir is 101.
  • Muhyiddin is 79.
  • Hadi Awang is 78.
  • Zahid Hamidi is 74.
  • Hamzah Zainudin is 70.

All of them have tasted power — some extensively. Some have been Prime Minister, some Deputy Prime Minister, multiple times. They have lived long, accumulated wealth and influence most Malays could never dream of. And still, they cannot let go. Their egos are bigger than their age.

If Hamzah Zainudin truly wants a “Reset Malaysia,” he should start by resetting the expired politicians — including himself.

If Hadi Awang genuinely wants to unite the Muslims, he should follow the example of Imam Hasan ibn Ali, who voluntarily abdicated the caliphate to Muawiyah to prevent bloody civil war among Muslims. Real leadership is sacrifice, not endless scheming for post and influence.

If Mahathir truly cares about Malay unity, he should tell his own son to dissolve Pejuang and stop splitting the Malay vote further.

If Zahid wants to talk about “Rumah Bangsa,” he should have the decency to resign first. A house built on the foundation of the country’s lowest-rated Malay leader (according to multiple surveys) has terrible Feng Shui from day one.

And Muhyiddin should return the RM300 million sitting in Bersatu’s account to actually help the Malays before he lectures anyone about fighting for them.

This is not leadership. This is a geriatric political mafia fighting over shrinking turf while wrapping themselves in the Malay and Islamic flag. The rakyat are not stupid. The unity they preach is only demanded from the bottom — never practiced at the top.
