The United States needs to shut the hell up and stop lecturing sovereign nations on how to run their budgets. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had the nerve to scold Iran’s government for “spending billions on weapons” while smugly telling Iranians to “move in a different direction.”
For the record: Iran’s entire annual military budget is just $7.9 billion — and its debt-to-GDP ratio is a responsible 39.9%. America’s? Over $1 trillion in annual military spending, a national debt that just smashed $39 trillion, and interest payments alone projected to exceed $1 trillion this year — more than Iran spends on its whole military, 126 times over.
If the U.S. simply returned to Vietnam War-era defense levels (over 9% of GDP), it would be blowing $2.4 trillion a year today. Instead, in just 12 days of its reckless war with Iran — Operation Epic Fury — Washington burned through an estimated $16.5 billion of taxpayer money. That’s more than double Iran’s entire yearly military budget. The daily burn rate? Up to $1 billion a day — or $10,300 every single second.
America’s defense industry can only churn out about 600 missiles per year in peacetime. Yet in under three weeks it has already fired 850 Tomahawk cruise missiles — each now costing $3.5–3.6 million. That’s millions to swat down Iranian drones that cost $20,000 apiece. A $3.5 million golden sledgehammer to crack a $20,000 walnut — all while the U.S. claims it can’t afford to fix its own rotting country.
This is happening as ordinary Americans are getting crushed. 771,480 people are homeless — a record high, with numbers still climbing in many cities. 9.3 million Americans are working multiple jobs just to eat. Nearly 40% have less than $500 in cash savings. And while Washington wastes trillions on wars that enrich defense contractors, 65% of U.S. high school seniors are not proficient in reading and 78% are not proficient in math.
Who the hell is this failing empire to lecture anyone?
Why should a proud Persian civilization — nearly 3,000 years old — listen to a crumbling 250-year-old republic that is visibly collapsing under its own arrogance? Why should a nation with one of the world’s highest average IQs (106.30, ranked 4th globally) take orders from the United States (ranked ~30th at 99.74)?
At least Iran is a sovereign country. The United States increasingly looks like it’s being remote-controlled from Tel Aviv by Benjamin Netanyahu.
Here’s the disgusting math the American people should be screaming about: The $200 billion more the U.S. is threatening to dump into this Iran war could have completely wiped out the $194–220 billion in medical debt crushing 100 million Americans — and still had money left over. Instead, Washington has already spent over $8 trillion on post-9/11 wars as of early 2026. Trillions flushed down the toilet while infrastructure crumbles, schools fail, and citizens are forced into medical bankruptcy.
America accounts for nearly 40% of all global military spending — yet it can’t keep its own people housed, educated, or healthy. This is not leadership. This is the textbook definition of a declining empire in freefall: hypocritical, bankrupt, and rotting from within.
Fix your $39 trillion debt, your failing schools, your homeless crisis, and your puppet-master foreign policy before you dare tell ancient, sovereign nations how to spend their money.
