Najib’s lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah has charged the government with concealing the addendum.

He said this was the first time that an order of the Agong had not been enforced.

“Why did they conceal the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s order when you (were) authorised to expose it? They should expose and enforce it,” he was quoted as saying.

He said those who “concealed” the order had committed a serious offence.

“You cannot conceal. This was the Agong’s order. You have to obey.”

Lawyer Haniff Khatri Abdulla warned that concealing the royal order could be tantamount to treason.

He said the authorities should have at least acknowledged the order and, if they disagreed, appealed to the Agong to revoke it.

“This cannot just be covered up,” Haniff said.

He also named several parties whom he said were responsible for the disclosure of the purported addendum order.

Apart from the Pardons Board itself which he said should have been the first to be informed of such an order, he said the minister in charge of the Federal Territories in the Prime Minister’s Department, Dr Zaliha Mustafa, and the Prime Minister’s Department, under which the board falls, should explain what really happened.

He also said that Anwar was ultimately responsible for whether he had been informed about the addendum order.

He also named Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution, who is in charge of prisons, and Azalina Othman Said, the minister in charge of legal affairs, saying they should be held accountable.

Royal Addendum: ‘Do not be surprised by public backlash’ – Nazifuddin warns government

Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s son Datuk Mohd Nazifuddin Najib has questioned the government’s handling of the royal addendum issued in his father’s case.

Nazifuddin expressed concern over the government’s apparent reluctance to acknowledge the royal addendum, which he believes could have implications for the ongoing legal proceedings against his father.

“The royal addendum for my father has been issued and has widely circulated on social media, providing clear and compelling evidence.

“This decision further solidifies his right to a fair and equitable trial,” the Langkawi Umno Division Chief said in a Facebook post on Friday.

According to him, the public is now allegedly demanding justice through a transparent legal process, free from political interference or manipulation.

Nazifuddin urged the government, led by Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN), to act with honesty and transparency, warning of potential backlash in the next General Election if the issue is mishandled.

“If the government overlooks this and allows unseen hands to meddle in Malaysia’s sovereign legal system, they should not be surprised if the people respond harshly in the next general election,” he said.

Nazifuddin also revealed that his brother, Datuk Nizar Najib had filed an additional affidavit with the court, including a copy of the royal addendum, which allegedly directed that their father be placed under house arrest.

“Where does it state that this is hearsay? Some even dare to claim that the royal addendum is a forgery,” he stressed.

Nazifuddin described such claims as desperate and unwise, made by certain politicians and their supporters who seem to fear his father’s growing influence, which has been steadily gaining public support.

He strongly defended his brother, stating that Nizar would never resort to forgery, particularly in the name of the then Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

“Nizar upholds integrity and has immense respect for the former King,” Nazifuddin said.

Nazifuddin further alleged that court documents initially available to the public had now been restricted.

“Why has access to these documents been limited? Is there something being hidden? The truth will surface eventually, no matter how much it is suppressed,” he said.

Highlighting his father’s ongoing imprisonment in Kajang Prison, Nazifuddin described the situation as morally and legally unjust.

“Everyday my father remains in captivity is, in my opinion, a moral wrong, given the validity of the royal addendum,” he said, adding that the public is beginning to question the transparency of the country’s legal system.

He added that his father’s mubahalah (oath of truth) is beginning to resonate and gain public attention.

In April, Najib filed a judicial review to establish the existence of the addendum order dated Jan 29, issued by former Yang di-Pertuan Agong which he claimed the government had kept silent.

He named the Home Minister, Prison Department commissioner general, Attorney-General (AG), Federal Territories Pardons Board, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform), Legal Affairs Division director-general, and the government as respondents.

Najib claimed that his lawyers have requested an original copy or a copy of the order from the Kajang Prison but have not received a response.

He also claimed the subsequent inaction by the Home Minister and Prison Department commissioner general to execute the said order, is irrational, unreasonable, illegal, and arbitrary and offends the Federal Constitution and laws.

Najib is seeking a court order to compel the respondents to not only confirm the royal addendum but also to “forthwith remove the applicant from Kajang Prison facility to his known residences in Kuala Lumpur, where the applicant would continue to serve his imprisonment sentence under house arrest”.

He also seeks a mandamus order to compel the respondents to provide the original version of the royal addendum, costs, and any other relief deemed fit by the court.

He claimed in his affidavit that his rights had been adversely affected and infringed upon by the respondents in ignoring his inquiries over the alleged royal addendum.

He also claimed that the respondents’ disregard of his request constituted a direct intrusion of his basic rights under the Federal Constitution and amounted to direct contempt of the king.

The former Umno president further alleged that the respondents were trying to conceal the existence of the alleged royal addendum.
